What is UP Scholarship Portal?
UP Scholarship Portal (scholarship.up.gov.in) is Uttar Pradesh's official Social Welfare Department-run online scholarship platform — DIFFERENT from the central National Scholarship Portal (NSP) — that disburses Pre-Matric (Class 9-10), Post-Matric (Class 11 to PG/Professional), and PhD scholarships exclusively to UP-domicile students from SC, ST, OBC, General, Minority, and EWS communities. The UP scheme is funded entirely by the Uttar Pradesh State Budget and managed by 5 nodal UP departments: Samaj Kalyan (SC/General), Pichada Varg Kalyan (OBC), Alpsankhyak Kalyan (Minority), Janjati Kalyan (ST), and Divyangjan Kalyan (PWD). Approximately 2.5 crore UP students receive annual scholarships from ₹3,500 (Pre-Matric SC Class 9) to ₹22,000 (Post-Matric SC Engineering/Medical) — making UP's the LARGEST state-level scholarship programme in India. Fresh applications open July–September; renewals August–November. DBT credit directly to student's Aadhaar-linked SBI/PNB UP bank account.
