What is Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya UP?

Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya Yojana is Uttar Pradesh government's flagship residential school scheme providing free high-quality boarding education to children of migrant workers, labour-class families, and orphans who have been out of school. Launched in 2022 by CM Yogi Adityanath under the UP Mukhyamantri Balaseva Yojana umbrella, the scheme operates 18 Atal Awasiya Vidyalayas across UP — one per division. Each school provides free accommodation, nutritious meals, uniforms, textbooks, and quality CBSE-affiliated education from Class 6 to 12. Children of construction workers, brick kiln labourers, stone quarry workers, sugarcane cutters, and migrant daily wage labourers — who frequently move and cannot give their children stable schooling — are the primary target. Over 5,000 children study in these residential schools across UP.

Who is Eligible for Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya UP?

• ✓ Child of migrant worker, construction worker, brick kiln labourer, stone quarry worker, sugarcane cutter, or other daily wage labourers
• ✓ Age 10 to 18 years (for Class 6–12 admission)
• ✓ Uttar Pradesh domicile — child should be a UP resident
• ✓ Orphan children or children of deceased labourers also eligible
• ✓ Children who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out due to parental migration
• ✓ No income limit — scheme targets most economically marginalised families
