Real-Life Examples — Are You Eligible for PM Vishwakarma?
Find the profile closest to your situation to quickly check whether you qualify:
Suresh, a 35-year-old self-employed carpenter from a village, working with hand tools, with Aadhaar-linked mobile and bank account
Eligible — He is a traditional artisan in one of the 18 trades (carpenter), self-employed, above 18, with valid Aadhaar — qualifies for ₹15,000 toolkit + ₹3 lakh loan at 5%.
Lata, a 28-year-old self-employed tailor (darzi) in a small town, the only applicant from her family, never availed PMEGP or Mudra
Eligible — Tailor is among the 18 listed trades; she meets the one-member-per-family rule and has not taken a similar central self-employment loan in the last 5 years.
Ramesh, a 42-year-old potter (kumhar), self-employed, planning to register at his nearest CSC with Aadhaar biometric
Eligible — Potter is on the 18-trade list; CSC Aadhaar-biometric registration is the correct route and is free.
Vikram, a 45-year-old blacksmith but currently working as a salaried fitter at a government workshop
Not eligible — Government employees are explicitly NOT eligible; he is also salaried, not self-employed in the unorganized sector.
Anita, a 30-year-old beautician running a salon (not on the 18-trade list); her husband already registered under PM Vishwakarma as a barber
Not eligible — Beautician is not in the 18 traditional trades, and only ONE member per family is eligible — her husband has already registered.
Karthik, a 38-year-old cobbler who took a ₹2 lakh PM Mudra loan two years ago for the same trade
Not eligible — Applicants who availed PMEGP, PM Mudra or similar central/state self-employment loans in the last 5 years are excluded.
Examples are illustrative — always confirm against the official eligibility criteria before applying.
Common Mistakes — Why PM Vishwakarma Applications Get Rejected
- ✗Trying to register directly online — PM Vishwakarma registration is OFFLINE at a CSC using Aadhaar biometric; there is no self-online signup.
- ✗Paying a CSC operator or middleman for registration — CSC registration is completely FREE; if anyone demands money, complain to pmvishwakarma.gov.in or helpline 18002677777.
- ✗Applying for a trade not on the 18-trade list (e.g., beautician, electrician, mobile repair) — only the 18 listed trades like carpenter, blacksmith, goldsmith, potter, tailor, mason, barber, cobbler, washerman etc. are eligible.
- ✗Multiple family members applying separately — only ONE member per family is eligible; duplicate applications get rejected.
- ✗Applying while still enrolled in PMKVY or after taking PMEGP/Mudra in the last 5 years — this is an explicit disqualifier and leads to rejection.
- ✗Expecting the ₹2 lakh second loan immediately — it is released only AFTER 1st loan repayment OR completing Advanced Training (15+ days); skipping the training stops the second tranche.
Insider Tips for PM Vishwakarma
- →Carry an Aadhaar-linked mobile number to the CSC — biometric authentication will fail without it, and you also need it to log in and check status on pmvishwakarma.gov.in.
- →Complete Basic Skill Training (5-7 days) first to unlock both the ₹15,000 toolkit e-voucher AND the ₹1 lakh first loan tranche — skipping training means no toolkit and no loan.
- →Use the ₹15,000 e-voucher only on registered vendors via the PM Vishwakarma portal — the eligible tool list is pre-approved per trade, so trying to buy unlisted items wastes the voucher.
- →Track the ₹500/day training stipend by logging in at pmvishwakarma.gov.in — it is paid via DBT into your Aadhaar-linked bank account, so verify your bank seeding before training starts.
- →Save the PM Vishwakarma Certificate and ID Card download after registration — it doubles as a credible business identity for vendor onboarding and is needed for the 2nd loan tranche application.
