Common Mistakes — Why PM Ujjwala Applications Get Rejected
- ✗Applying when the household already has an LPG connection — the connection is rejected because the scheme is only for families with no existing connection.
- ✗Aadhaar not linked to the bank account, so the ₹1,600 financial assistance fails to transfer via DBT.
- ✗Submitting the application without a valid BPL Ration Card, which is the document that proves below-poverty-line status.
- ✗Applying through a fake website or paying a middleman instead of using the official pmuy.gov.in portal or an authorised HP/Bharatgas/Indane distributor.
- ✗Name or details on the application not matching the Aadhaar card, so KYC verification by the distributor fails.
Insider Tips for PM Ujjwala
- →Confirm no one in your household already holds an LPG connection before applying — a single existing connection makes the family ineligible.
- →Get your Aadhaar seeded with your bank account first so the ₹1,600 assistance reaches you without delay.
- →Apply directly at an authorised HP, Bharatgas or Indane distributor, or on pmuy.gov.in — the process is free, never pay an agent.
- →Note down your reference/connection number so you can follow up on the status with the distributor.
- →Keep your BPL Ration Card and passport photo ready at the time of applying to avoid a return trip.
