What is HP Disability Pension Scheme?
Himachal Pradesh Disability Pension Scheme combines the central Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) with HP's state top-up, providing ₹1,000-₹1,500/month to persons with 40% or more disability in HP from BPL/low-income families. Central contribution ₹300/month (IGNDPS) + HP state adds ₹700-₹1,200/month. Total: ₹1,500/month for severe disability (80%+). Administered through HP Social Justice & Empowerment Department. Disability Certificate from Chief Medical Officer mandatory. HP covers all recognized disability categories: locomotor, visual, hearing, speech, intellectual, and mental illness. About 1 lakh persons with disabilities benefit in HP. Apply at CDPO / Social Welfare Office.
