Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS), branded as Kalaignar Muthalvarin Thitta Nala Thittam in Tamil Nadu, provides cashless health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per year for major surgeries and treatments at empanelled government and private hospitals. Different from the central Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, this state scheme covers procedures not included in PMJAY and has a higher per-procedure coverage. About 5 lakh+ surgeries are performed annually. Covers all families with annual income up to Rs 72,000 and TNPDS ration card holders.
