About this housing scheme
Banglar Bari (Bengal Home) is West Bengal's urban affordable housing scheme for the urban poor, slum dwellers, and economically weaker sections who are not covered under PMAY-Urban. The scheme is implemented through Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) and Municipal Corporations. Beneficiaries receive a fully constructed housing unit in apartment complexes. The scheme is convergent with PMAY-Urban central funding. Target: 1.5 lakh urban poor families in Kolkata and other municipal areas. Priority to BPL, women-headed households, and SC/ST.

Who can apply for a unit
- ✓ Urban resident of West Bengal — in Kolkata or other municipal area
- ✓ Annual family income: EWS (up to ₹3 lakh) or LIG (₹3–6 lakh)

- ✓ Not availed housing benefit from any government scheme before
- ✓ BPL/slum dweller families and women-headed households have priority
- ✓ Aadhaar-linked bank account
