What is Bihar Scholarship Portal?
Run jointly by Bihar's SC-ST Welfare and BC-EBC Welfare Departments, this scholarship programme helps students from SC, ST, Backward Class (BC) and Extremely Backward Class (EBC) families stay in school and continue into higher education. It is split into two tracks: a Pre-Matric scheme for children in Class 1 to 10, and a Post-Matric scheme covering Class 11 onwards through graduation and beyond. Depending on class, category and whether a student is a day scholar or hosteller, support ranges from about ₹1,000 a year up to ₹15,000 or more, paid straight into the student's own Aadhaar-linked bank account through DBT. Bihar-domicile students apply on the state portal pmsonline.bih.nic.in, while central scholarships are routed through the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in. More than 1 crore students benefit each year.
