What is Mizoram CM Youth Award?
The Mizoram Chief Minister's Youth Award scheme, administered by the Youth & Sports Department, Government of Mizoram, combines public recognition with practical skilling support for young people across the state. On one side it honours outstanding youth who make a mark in social service, sports, arts and culture, drawing on the Mizo value of tlawmngaihna, or selfless community service. On the other side it pays a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 to youth enrolled in approved ITI, polytechnic or skill-training programmes, helping them complete vocational courses in trades such as tailoring, IT basics, beauty and wellness, food processing, handicrafts and hospitality. The stipend is credited directly to the beneficiary's Aadhaar-linked bank account through DBT for the duration of the training.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive ₹5,000/month stipend for vocational training + CM Youth Award recognition. The scheme was launched in 2017 and is implemented by the Government of Mizoram.
