What is Mizoram NLUP Revival Farmers?
The Mizoram New Land Use Policy (NLUP) Revival Scheme encourages farmers to permanently shift from traditional Jhum (slash-and-burn) cultivation to settled, sustainable farming systems. Under NLUP Revival, selected families receive a one-time grant of up to ₹1 lakh for establishing plantation crops (rubber, tea, oil palm, coffee, banana), horticulture orchards, piggery units, poultry farms, or fisheries — based on the family's land suitability assessment by the Agriculture Department. The scheme provides technical handholding, soil conservation support, and market linkage through state cooperatives. Mizoram ILP (Inner Line Permit) holders are eligible. Village councils (Local Council) identify and recommend beneficiary families. NLUP Revival is a continuation of the original NLUP (2011–2016) with enhanced grant amounts and a focus on climate-resilient farming.
