About this tribal welfare scheme
Mizoram State Bamboo Mission implements the National Bamboo Mission Policy (NMBP) at the state level, providing ILP holder tribal families with planting material, cultivation support, and post-harvest processing for Mautak and Muli bamboo — Mizoram's dominant bamboo species. The mission gives 50% subsidy on bamboo plantation establishment (minimum 0.5 acre), provides access to Bamboo Technology Park facilities for value-added product manufacturing (furniture, handicrafts, flooring, bamboo charcoal), and links artisans with MHHDC (Mizoram Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation) for market access. Mizoram has over 30 bamboo species and one of the highest bamboo density forests in India. The mission also supports tribal youth in setting up bamboo processing micro-enterprises through MSME loan + subsidy.

Documents you'll need at enrolment
How to apply through TRIFED / state tribal dept.
- 1Contact the District Agriculture Office or State Bamboo Mission office in Aizawl for the annual plantation support notification
- 2Get Local Council (VC) attestation for tribal land rights (if applicable)
- 3Fill the NMBP plantation application form — specify bamboo species and area
- 4For technology park access or micro-enterprise loan, additionally fill the MSME/DIC application form
- 5Submit all documents — ILP, Aadhaar, land/VC document, bank passbook — at District Agriculture Office
- 6On approval, receive free planting material from government nursery and 50% subsidy via DBT after field verification
