What is Annapurna Yojana Maharashtra?

Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana is a Maharashtra government scheme providing 3 free LPG cylinders per year to BPL and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families. Launched in March 2024 by the Mahayuti alliance government ahead of the 2024 Maharashtra elections, the scheme benefits approximately 52 lakh families across Maharashtra. The 3 free cylinders are provided in Holi (March), Diwali (October), and a third refill — representing cooking gas support for the poorest households who already have an LPG connection under PM Ujjwala Yojana or otherwise. The benefit is delivered as a cash transfer equivalent to the cylinder cost directly to the beneficiary's Aadhaar-linked bank account.
