What is Meghalaya Samagra Gram Uday?
Meghalaya Samagra Gram Uday (Comprehensive Village Development) Scheme is the state government's integrated rural infrastructure programme targeting unconnected and underserved villages across Meghalaya's three hill regions — Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills, and Garo Hills. The scheme covers construction and upgrade of rural roads, installation of piped water supply systems (Jal Jeevan Mission convergence), solar and grid electrification (PM-Saubhagya convergence), community sanitation facilities, and village connectivity infrastructure. Priority is given to remote tribal villages with no all-weather road access, unelectrified hamlets, and villages with no safe drinking water source. District Planning Committees and Village Councils (Dorbar Shnong for Khasi areas, Nokma-led councils for Garo areas) actively participate in project selection and monitoring.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive Rural roads, piped water supply, electrification, and sanitation infrastructure for unconnected villages in Meghalaya — fully funded by state and central convergence schemes. The scheme was launched in 2019 and is implemented by the Government of Meghalaya.
Samagra Gram Uday scheme brings integrated rural infrastructure — all-weather roads (myntdu ki wah synteng in Khasi), piped drinking water (Jal Jeevan Mission), solar and grid electrification, and sanitation — to unconnected villages in Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills, and Garo Hills. Village Councils (Dorbar Shnong in Khasi areas; Nokma-led Village Defence Parties in Garo areas) are the primary community partners for identifying needs and monitoring work. Entire villages benefit collectively — no individual application needed. Contact your Block Development Officer (BDO) or District Planning Committee.
📌 फायदा: All-weather rural roads + piped drinking water + solar/grid electrification + community sanitation — entire village benefits collectively at no individual cost
पात्रता:
Resident of an unconnected or underserved village in Meghalaya. No individual application needed. Village Council (Dorbar Shnong or Nokma council) initiates the demand with the BDO and District Planning Committee.
अर्ज कसा करावा:
Village communities should pass a resolution through the Dorbar Shnong (Khasi/Jaintia areas) or Nokma-led Village Council (Garo areas) identifying infrastructure gaps. Submit the resolution to the Block Development Officer (BDO). The BDO forwards it to the District Planning Committee for inclusion in the Samagra Gram Uday project list. Central scheme convergence (Jal Jeevan Mission, PM-Saubhagya, PMGSY) provides funding.
