What is Meghalaya Tribal Women Livelihoods?
The Meghalaya Tribal Women Livelihoods Scheme provides ₹30,000 to ₹1 lakh in livelihood grants and enterprise support to Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo tribal women for starting or expanding income-generating activities. Implemented by the Women Development Department (WDD), Meghalaya, the scheme focuses on weaving enterprises (Khasi and Jaintia traditional weaving, Garo dak mande cloth), food processing (Meghalaya local produce), beauty and wellness services, retail shops, and agricultural value addition. Women SHG groups organized under the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) receive priority and can access up to ₹1 lakh for collective enterprises. The scheme is aligned with the national Mission for Women's Empowerment and MSRLM/NRLM frameworks.
