What is Kerala Vayomithram Elderly?
Vayomithram (Friend of the Elderly) is Kerala's flagship elderly care scheme providing free home-based healthcare, counselling, and support services to persons aged 60 and above. Key benefits: free home visit by healthcare worker (monthly), free basic medicines, geriatric health camps, physiotherapy support, emergency helpline, old age home placement for destitute elderly, and financial aid under social security pension. Implemented by Social Justice Department Kerala. Over 40 lakh elderly covered. Also links to Mahila Samakhya and Kudumbashree volunteers for daily care. Apply at nearest Local Self Government (LSG) office.
