Punjab Solar Street Lighting Scheme, implemented by Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA), provides FREE solar streetlights to villages, gram panchayat areas, urban wards, and remote habitations across Punjab. Each LED solar streetlight has a 12W LED panel, lithium battery, motion sensor, and 5-year warranty. Aims to electrify 10,000+ streets in rural Punjab with renewable energy — reducing dependence on grid power, eliminating dark spots, and improving night-time safety for women, students, and pedestrians. Beneficiary: Gram Panchayat, Nagar Panchayat, or Municipal Committee passes a resolution requesting solar streetlights — PEDA installs them free of cost. No cost-sharing required from Panchayat.
