What is Punjab Maa-Beti Samman?

Punjab Mukhyamantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana, also called Maa-Beti Samman Yojana, was announced by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on 8 March 2026 (International Women's Day) during the Punjab Budget 2026-27 presentation. CM Bhagwant Mann formally launched the scheme on 14 April 2026 at a rally in Adampur, Jalandhar — with registrations starting 15 April 2026 in 9 pilot constituencies (Adampur, Malout, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Dirba, Sunam, Moga, Kotkapura, Batala, Patiala Rural). The remaining 108 constituencies open registration from 15 May 2026. Described by Punjab government as 'the world's first universal cash transfer scheme for women', every eligible woman aged 18 years and above who is a permanent resident of Punjab will receive ₹1,000 per month directly in her bank account via DBT. Women from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category receive ₹1,500 per month (₹500 additional). No middlemen, no delays — direct credit to Aadhaar-linked bank account.

Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive ₹1,000/month (general) or ₹1,500/month (SC) DBT to every eligible Punjab woman (18+). The scheme was launched in 2026 and is implemented by the Government of Punjab.
