What is Punjab PMAY BPL Housing Scheme?
Punjab implements the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for both rural (PMAY-G) and urban (PMAY-U) areas with state government top-up support. PMAY-G provides ₹1.5 lakh for BPL rural families to construct/upgrade pucca houses. Urban PMAY provides ₹2.5 lakh for EWS/LIG category beneficiaries in Punjab cities. Punjab state provides additional top-up assistance above the central grant. The CM Housing scheme operates alongside PMAY for eligible homeless families. Applications are submitted via AwaasSoft (rural) and PMAY-U portal (urban). Beneficiary selection uses the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) data.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive PMAY-G: ₹1.5 lakh for rural BPL; PMAY-U: ₹2.5 lakh for urban EWS/LIG; Punjab state top-up available above central grant. The scheme was launched in 2016 and is implemented by the Government of Punjab.
