What is Punjab Mukhyamantri Sehat Bima Yojana?
Punjab Mukhyamantri Sehat Bima Yojana (formerly Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana) is the AAP Government's flagship free health insurance scheme covering all Punjab families with cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh per family per year. The scheme was significantly expanded by the AAP government in 2022 — raising coverage from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh and extending it universally to all Punjab families (over 60 lakh families). It covers hospitalisation, surgery, cancer treatment, critical illness, and organ transplants at over 700+ empanelled government and private hospitals across Punjab and India. No premium is charged to any beneficiary family.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive Free cashless health insurance ₹10 lakh per family per year — hospitalisation, surgery, cancer, organ transplants — 700+ hospitals Punjab + India. The scheme was launched in 2019 and is implemented by the Government of Punjab.
