What is Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan Assam?

Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) is Assam government's women micro-entrepreneurship scheme providing Rs 10,000 seed grant to women across Assam to start or scale their own small businesses. Launched by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, the scheme targets women from rural and semi-urban areas who are self-help group members or identified through Mission Basundhara. The grant is used for working capital — raw materials, tools, equipment — in trades like food processing, weaving, handicraft, beauty parlour, and retail. Over 5 lakh women targeted in the first phase.

Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive ₹10,000 seed grant (one-time) to start/scale micro-enterprise — food, weaving, handicraft, beauty, retail. The scheme was launched in 2023 and is implemented by the Government of Assam.
