What is Sikkim Women SHG Loan NRLM?
Under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana — National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), Sikkim women's Self Help Groups (SHGs) receive micro-loans of ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakh at subsidized interest rates. Sikkim's key SHG livelihood activities include cardamom and ginger processing, handloom weaving (Lepcha and Bhutia traditional textiles), handicraft production, and eco-tourism. The state has over 4,000 active SHGs with 40,000+ women members. Interest subvention of 7% is available for timely repayment. Sikkim State Rural Livelihoods Mission (SSRLM) implements the scheme.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive ₹50,000–₹2 lakh micro-loan for women SHGs — cardamom/ginger processing, weaving, enterprise — 7% interest subvention. The scheme was launched in 2011 and is implemented by the Government of Sikkim.
