What is SAHI Sikkim Arogya Health Insurance?
SAHI (Sikkim Arogya Health Insurance) is Sikkim Government's flagship universal health insurance scheme providing cashless treatment up to ₹5 lakh per family per year. SAHI covers ALL Sikkim domicile holders — extending AB-PMJAY to families above the BPL threshold. The scheme covers over 1.4 lakh families (Sikkim's entire population) across all four districts. SAHI works at empanelled government and private hospitals within Sikkim and at major referral hospitals in Siliguri, Kolkata, and other cities. The scheme is particularly important for Sikkim as the state has limited medical facilities for complex procedures, requiring referral care outside the state.
