What is Sikkim CM-SEED?
Chief Minister's Self Employment Enterprise Development (CM-SEED) is Sikkim's flagship self-employment scheme, administered by the Industries & Commerce Department, Government of Sikkim. It offers loans of up to ₹2 lakh at a concessional interest rate of 4% per annum to young residents of Sikkim who want to set up small enterprises such as manufacturing units, retail shops, service businesses, or agri-based ventures. The aim is to promote entrepreneurship and reduce unemployment among educated youth by turning a viable business idea into a working enterprise. Applications are screened at the District Industries Centre, and approved loans are disbursed to the applicant's Aadhaar-linked bank account, with repayment scheduled in quarterly installments after the enterprise is established.
