What is Sikkim Mission Organic?

Sikkim became India's first 100% organic state in 2016 and continues to support all farmers through the Sikkim State Organic Certification Agency (SSOCA). Farmers receive ₹10,000 per hectare organic farming support, free certified organic seeds, bio-inputs (vermicompost, bio-fertilizers), and PGS/NPOP organic certification assistance. The state prohibits all synthetic pesticides. Key organic crops: cardamom (largest producer in India), ginger, large cardamom, turmeric, tea, and vegetables. 75,000+ Sikkim farmers are certified organic.

Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive ₹10,000/hectare organic farming support + free certified organic seeds + PGS certification + bio-inputs for all Sikkim farmers. The scheme was launched in 2016 and is implemented by the Government of Sikkim.
