What is YSR Cheyutha AP?
YSR Cheyutha is a flagship women empowerment scheme run by the Women Development and Child Welfare department of Andhra Pradesh for women aged 45 to 60 belonging to SC, ST, BC and Minority communities. The idea is to give middle-aged women, who are often moving out of hard manual labour, a dependable lump of seed capital to start or expand a small livelihood such as a kirana shop, dairy unit, tailoring work or petty trade. Each eligible woman receives ₹18,750 per quarter, adding up to ₹75,000 a year, paid straight into her own Aadhaar-linked bank account through DBT so there is no middleman and no diversion of funds. Around 22 lakh women across the state are covered, with enrolment and verification handled at the Village or Ward Secretariat.
