What is Telangana Dalit Bandhu?
Telangana Dalit Bandhu is one of India's most iconic SC empowerment schemes, launched in August 2021 by the Government of Telangana. The scheme provides a ₹10 lakh ONE-TIME direct cash grant (NOT a loan — no repayment required) to Scheduled Caste (SC) families to start or expand income-generating enterprises. Beneficiaries can use the grant for any livelihood activity: agriculture, dairy, poultry, retail business, transport, small manufacturing, services. Telangana State Welfare Department also provides hand-holding through District Collectors. Pilot launched in Huzurabad constituency (CM's home); now expanded to ~118 constituencies. Aims to cover 10 lakh+ SC families across Telangana over 5 years.
