What is Haryana NFBS Death Benefit?
National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) is the centrally-funded scheme under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), implemented in Haryana by the Social Justice & Empowerment Department. NFBS provides a ONE-TIME lump-sum grant of ₹20,000 to BPL families upon the death of the PRIMARY BREADWINNER (the main earning member). Eligibility: deceased breadwinner aged 18–60 years; family must be BPL listed in SECC-2011 / Antyodaya / state BPL list. The benefit is paid via DBT to the surviving spouse's or eldest adult member's Aadhaar-linked bank account. Application within 1 year of death. Over 5 lakh Haryana families have benefited since 1995.
