What is Haryana Chirag Yojana?
Haryana Chirag Yojana (Chief Minister Equal Education Relief, Assistance and Grant) is Haryana Government's scheme enabling children from economically weaker sections (EWS) to study in private schools free of cost. Launched in 2022, the scheme allows parents with annual income up to ₹1.80 lakh to get their ward admitted in private schools with tuition fees paid by the government. This covers Classes 2-12 in private recognised schools. The scheme is similar to the RTE 25% reservation but extends beyond Class 8 which RTE covers. In 2024-25, over 25,000 students enrolled through this scheme in Haryana's private schools.
