What is National Health Mission?
National Health Mission (NHM) is India's largest public health programme covering National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and National Urban Health Mission (NUHM). It provides free essential medicines, diagnostics, and health services at government health facilities. Key components: ASHA workers, Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK), free immunisation, and Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK).
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive Free medicines + free diagnostics + free delivery services + ASHA support + free immunisation. The scheme was launched in 2005 and is implemented by the Government of India.

Who is Eligible for National Health Mission?

Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana), launched in September 2018, provides cashless hospitalisation coverage of ₹5 lakh per family per year at 30,000+ empanelled government and private hospitals. PM-JAY is the world's largest government-funded health insurance scheme, covering 55 crore+ people from the bottom 40% of India's population as per the SECC 2011 database. The scheme covers 1,949 medical procedures including surgeries, chemotherapy, kidney dialysis, neonatal care, and mental health treatment — at no cost to the beneficiary. Beneficiaries can avail treatment in any empanelled hospital across any state, completely cashless, using the Ayushman Card. Senior citizens aged 70+ years now get an additional ₹5 lakh top-up cover. Over 8 crore hospitalisation cases have been covered under PM-JAY as of 2026.

One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) allows any NFSA beneficiary to avail their entitled ration from any Fair Price Shop (FPS) anywhere in India using Aadhaar-based biometric authentication. Migrant workers can now get ration in the city where they work, not just their home state. All 36 states/UTs are covered under ONORC.
Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana 2026 — Free Aids for Senior Citizens | Walking Stick, Wheelchair, Hearing Aid
Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) provides free assisted-living devices (walking sticks, elbow crutches, wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles, dentures) to BPL senior citizens aged 60+ years who suffer from age-related disabilities. Devices are distributed at special camps organized by ALIMCO in camps at the district level. 100% funded by Central Government from Senior Citizens Welfare Fund.
AB-PMJAY Senior Citizens 70+ Free Health Cover 2026 — ₹5 Lakh Cashless | Vy Vandana Card
Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) for Senior Citizens 70+ is a landmark October 2024 expansion of India's flagship health insurance scheme. Every Indian citizen aged 70 years and above gets ₹5 lakh per year cashless health cover at empanelled hospitals — REGARDLESS of income, BPL status, or pre-existing PMJAY enrollment. Families already covered under PMJAY get an additional ₹5 lakh top-up exclusively for senior members. The new Vy Vandana Card (Distinct Senior Card) is issued separately to 70+ citizens. Covers cardiac, cancer, kidney, joint replacement, neurosurgery, ICU, and 1,949+ procedures at 30,000+ hospitals nationwide.
