What is Mission Indradhanush 5.0?

Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0 (IMI 5.0) is India's flagship universal immunization campaign launched in August 2023 under the National Health Mission. It targets 100% full immunization of pregnant women and children aged 0–5 years against 12 vaccine-preventable diseases: tuberculosis (BCG), polio (OPV/IPV), hepatitis B, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, Haemophilus influenzae type b, rotavirus, measles, rubella, pneumococcal disease, and Japanese encephalitis (in endemic districts). IMI 5.0 specifically addresses 'zero-dose' children and dropouts identified through digital data systems. The Mission Indradhanush series has so far covered 5.46 crore children and 1.32 crore pregnant women across all districts of India.

  3. 3Keep the Mother and Child Protection (MCP) Card, which records due and completed vaccine doses
  4. 4Optionally link Aadhaar for U-WIN registration so digital vaccination records are maintained
  5. 5Give a mobile number to receive SMS alerts about upcoming vaccination dates and IMI 5.0 special rounds
