What is Meghalaya Bamboo & MFP Tribal Scheme?
Meghalaya's Bamboo and Minor Forest Produce Scheme is specifically designed for Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo tribal communities (termed 'nongkynmaw ka shnong' in Khasi — forest community people) who depend on forest produce for their livelihoods. Tribal families collecting bamboo (u dieng synteng), cane/rattan, broom grass (u dieng sla), honey, lac, medicinal herbs, and other forest produce receive ₹5,000–₹15,000 support for tools, processing equipment, and market linkage. Women collectors and SHG groups get priority support.

Meghalaya Bamboo & MFP Tribal Scheme Eligibility
Member of a recognized tribal community (Khasi, Jaintia, Garo, or other) in Meghalaya, active MFP collector or processor, registered with Forest Department or MILMa, annual non-forest income below ₹2 lakh. Priority to women and SHG members.

How to Apply for Meghalaya Bamboo & MFP Tribal Scheme?
Visit the District Forest Office or the nearest Block Development Officer (BDO) in Meghalaya. Alternatively, connect through a MILMa SHG active in your village. Bring tribal (ST) certificate, Aadhaar, Meghalaya domicile certificate, self-declaration of MFP activity, and bank passbook. Women SHGs can apply collectively through MILMa block coordinators.
