Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) is a central government scheme under the Ministry of MSME that organises traditional industry workers — in khadi, coir, bamboo, honey, agarbatti, handloom, pottery, etc. — into clusters and provides funding for their development and modernisation. SFURTI provides: Hard interventions (machinery, tools, equipment — up to ₹2 crore); Soft interventions (skill development, design, quality, packaging — up to ₹25 lakh); Thematic interventions (technology upgradation, brand, marketing — up to ₹10 lakh). Per cluster total: up to ₹2.5 crore regular cluster or ₹5 crore heritage cluster. Implementing Agencies (IAs): KVIC, Coir Board, state government agencies, NGOs. 50 artisan clusters covered per year. Target artisans: 50,000+ per year. Artisans need not apply directly — their cluster/IA applies. Artisans benefit through improved equipment, market access, fair wages.

Applying step-by-step

  1. 1Individual artisans do not apply directly — an Implementing Agency (KVIC, Coir Board, state agency, or NGO) applies on the cluster's behalf.
  2. 2The IA identifies a cluster of 50+ traditional industry artisans (khadi, coir, bamboo, honey, agarbatti, handloom, pottery) in a defined area.
  3. 3IA prepares a cluster profile with artisan list and a Detailed Project Report, submitted via msme.gov.in/schemes/sfurti.
  4. 4IA submits its own registration documents, land/infrastructure details, and the cluster society's bank account.
  5. 5Ministry of MSME appraises the DPR and sanctions hard, soft, and thematic intervention funding (up to ₹2.5-5 crore).
  6. 6Artisans benefit indirectly through machinery, training, and market linkage delivered via the cluster/IA.
  7. 7Interested artisans should contact their local KVIC or Coir Board office or an existing cluster society, not apply individually.

Common questions from borrowers

Direct application नहीं। Individual artisans को एक cluster (50+ artisans) बनाना होता है और एक Implementing Agency (IA) — जैसे KVIC, Coir Board, state MSME office, or registered NGO — के माध्यम से apply करना होता है। IA cluster survey, DPR तैयार करता है और msme.gov.in पर online application submit करता है।
