What is Gujarat Antyodaya PDS Food?
Gujarat implements Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) under the National Food Security Act providing 35 kg of food grain per month to the poorest BPL families (AAY card holders) at highly subsidised prices: wheat at ₹2/kg and rice at ₹3/kg (central rates). Under PMGKAY extension, Gujarat provides free grains (0 cost) to NFSA Priority Household (PHH) and AAY card holders. Gujarat has 1.6 crore NFSA beneficiary households. PHH (green card) families get 5 kg/person/month. AAY families get 35 kg/month regardless of family size. Ration card managed by Food & Civil Supplies Department Gujarat.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive 35 kg grains/month at ₹1-2/kg (AAY) OR free 5 kg/person/month (PHH) — Gujarat BPL ration card holders. The scheme was launched in 2001 and is implemented by the Government of Gujarat.
