About this scheme for women
Across the inhabited islands of the Andaman & Nicobar archipelago, the Women & Child Development Department runs an SHG Empowerment Scheme giving women's collectives working capital to start earning independently. Once a women's Self-Help Group registers, it gets a one-time seed revolving fund of ₹10,000, and can then draw interest-free loans of up to ₹1 lakh for group enterprises. Groups wanting larger sums can move on to bank-linked credit under the DAY-NRLM / SRLM framework once their track record is established. The broader goal is normalising financial independence and collective livelihood work among island women, from Port Blair to the smaller outlying islands.

अंडमान और निकोबार महिला एवं बाल विकास विभाग पंजीकृत महिला SHGs को ₹10,000 seed revolving fund और ₹1 लाख तक 0% ब्याज ऋण देता है। 6 माह की नियमित बचत के बाद SHG पात्र हो जाती है। DAY-NRLM के अंतर्गत bank-linked credit भी उपलब्ध है। यह योजना द्वीपों पर महिला उद्यमिता और आर्थिक स्वतंत्रता को बढ़ावा देती है।

Which women qualify
- ✓ The applicant must be a Self-Help Group made up entirely of women that has been formally registered in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
- ✓ The group needs at least six months of active existence behind it, with a savings record showing regular, consistent contributions rather than a one-off deposit.
- ✓ Every member of the SHG has to be a woman who permanently resides in the A&N Islands — the benefit is not open to groups based elsewhere.
- ✓ The SHG must operate a joint bank account linked to its registered cooperative or bank, since funds are released into this group account rather than to individuals.
- ✓ Any earlier loan taken by the group needs to be fully cleared, with no history of default, before a fresh revolving fund or loan can be sanctioned.

- 3Complete the application form carefully — personal, bank and address details
- 4Upload scans of SHG registration certificate from WCD Department, A&N Administration, SHG savings passbook (minimum 6 months), List of SHG members with Aadhaar details
- 5Cross-check every entry, then submit and save the reference number
- 6Track the application from the portal's status section while it is verified
