What is PMAY Urban 2.0?
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) was launched in August 2024 to build 1 crore affordable houses for urban poor and middle-class families over 5 years (2024-29) with a total outlay of Rs 10 lakh crore. The scheme provides interest subsidy (Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme — CLSS) up to Rs 2.30 lakh on home loans, beneficiary-led construction (BLC) assistance, and affordable housing in partnership. EWS/LIG/MIG families with annual income up to Rs 18 lakh are eligible.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive Interest subsidy up to Rs 2.30 lakh on home loan + BLC grant up to Rs 2.50 lakh for self-construction. The scheme was launched in 2024 and is implemented by the Government of India.

Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act (RERA), enacted in 2016 and implemented through state RERA authorities, protects homebuyers from fraudulent/delayed real estate projects.
