About this student scheme

PM VIDYA PRAVESH is a free 3-month school readiness module for children enrolling in Class 1 (age 6+), implemented under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It bridges the gap between Anganwadi/ECCE and formal schooling. The programme uses play-based, activity-based learning covering foundational literacy (alphabets, rhymes) and numeracy (counting, shapes) without formal homework or examinations. Teachers are trained under NISHTHA FLN module. Implemented across all government and government-aided primary schools in India. Module materials available in all scheduled languages on DIKSHA platform.

Which students qualify

• ✓Children enrolling in Class 1 in government or government-aided primary schools
• ✓Age 5.5 to 6.5 years at time of Class 1 admission
• ✓All states and UTs — government primary schools

Papers for the application

Applying online, step-by-step

1. 1No separate application exists — the module is delivered automatically to children admitted to Class 1
2. 2Enrol your child in Class 1 at a government or government-aided primary school using age proof (birth certificate/Aadhaar)
3. 3Submit the regular school admission form; the 3-month PM Vidya Pravesh module begins automatically for the eligible age group
4. 4School confirms the child is 5.5 to 6.5 years old before starting the play-based module
5. 5NISHTHA FLN-trained teachers run the activity-based literacy and numeracy sessions in class — no extra enrolment or fee
6. 6Module material in scheduled languages can be viewed by parents/teachers on the DIKSHA platform (diksha.gov.in)
7. 7No exam or certificate follows — the child moves into the regular Class 1 curriculum after 3 months
