What is NMEO-Oilseeds?

National Mission on Edible Oils – Oilseeds (NMEO-Oilseeds) is the central government's ₹10,103 crore mission approved in September 2024 to achieve self-reliance (Atmanirbhar) in edible oils. India currently imports 56% of its edible oils (over Rs 1.4 lakh crore worth annually). NMEO-Oilseeds targets boosting domestic oilseed production from 39 million tonnes (2022-23) to 69.7 million tonnes by 2030-31, increasing area under oilseeds by 40 lakh hectares. Key crops: groundnut, mustard, soybean, sunflower, sesame, niger, linseed, safflower, castor. Farmers get high-yield seeds, training, mechanization subsidy, and bonus on MSP. Implementation: 2024-25 to 2030-31.

  • All farmers across India growing oilseeds (groundnut, mustard, soybean, sunflower, sesame, niger, linseed, safflower, castor)
  • Priority to small and marginal farmers (below 2 hectares)
  • Farmers in 347 identified oilseed-priority districts
  • FPOs and farmer cooperatives also eligible for cluster development support

How to Apply for NMEO-Oilseeds Online?

  1. 1Register as an oilseed grower at your local state agriculture department office, since NMEO-Oilseeds runs state-wise, not through one national portal
  2. 2Give land records (7/12 or khasra) and crop sowing details to confirm you're growing groundnut, mustard, soybean, sunflower, or another listed oilseed
  3. 3Quote your PM-Kisan beneficiary ID where you have one — it helps identify and prioritise small/marginal farmers
  4. 4Link Aadhaar to your bank account so the machinery subsidy (up to 40%) and MSP bonus can be paid via DBT
  5. 5Collect free/subsidised high-yield oilseed seed kits distributed by the state agriculture department in the 347 priority districts
  6. 6Join an FPO or farmer cooperative to access the cluster development support offered under the mission
  7. 7Sell your oilseed produce through MSP procurement to get the assured price/bonus; guidelines are at agricoop.nic.in
