What is Ladakh Horticulture Subsidy Scheme?
The Ladakh Cold Arid Region Horticulture Scheme provides 50% capital subsidy on the cost of certified fruit plant saplings (apple, apricot, walnut, seabuckthorn), greenhouse/polyhouse construction, drip and sprinkler irrigation equipment, and cold storage units to farmers in Leh and Kargil districts. Given Ladakh's short growing season and extreme climate, the scheme promotes protected cultivation under greenhouses and drip irrigation to maximise farm income. The scheme is implemented by the Agriculture & Horticulture Department, Ladakh UT, with Coconut Development Board and NHM funding.
Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive 50% subsidy on certified fruit saplings, greenhouse, drip irrigation, and cold storage for Ladakh farmers. The scheme was launched in 2018 and is implemented by the Government of Ladakh.
