What is Sagarmala Programme?
Sagarmala Programme is the Government of India's flagship initiative for port-led development — leveraging India's 7,500 km coastline for economic growth. Launched March 2015 with 802 projects worth ₹6 lakh crore for 2015-2035. Four pillars: (1) Port Modernisation & New Ports; (2) Port Connectivity Enhancement; (3) Port-led Industrialisation (Coastal Economic Zones); (4) Coastal Community Development (fishermen welfare, skill development).
