What is HRIDAY?

Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) is the Government of India scheme to preserve and revitalise the unique heritage character of 12 historic cities while ensuring inclusive urban development. Launched January 2015 with ₹500 crore outlay. 12 heritage cities: Ajmer, Amaravati, Amritsar, Badami, Dwarka, Gaya, Kanchipuram, Mathura, Puri, Varanasi, Velankanni, Warangal. Focus: heritage conservation, urban infrastructure (roads, sanitation, lighting), tourism infrastructure, livelihood for heritage artisans. Implemented by Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

How to Apply for HRIDAY Online?

  1. 1HRIDAY funds city-level heritage and infrastructure projects — there is no individual citizen application form.
  2. 2Residents of the 12 designated HRIDAY cities (Ajmer, Amritsar, Varanasi, Puri, Mathura and others) benefit as ULBs execute conservation and infrastructure works.
  3. 3Heritage conservation proposals for ASI-recognised monuments are routed through the city's Urban Local Body to the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs.
  4. 4Heritage artisans and craftsmen seeking livelihood support register with the ULB/HRIDAY project office using an artisan ID card and business registration.
  5. 5Tourism infrastructure works are coordinated by city governments and ULBs directly with MoHUA (mohua.gov.in) for sanction and funding.
  6. 6Track sanctioned HRIDAY projects for your city through mohua.gov.in or the local municipal corporation.
