What is AMRUT Mission 2.0?

Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0 is a centrally-sponsored scheme to provide universal access to functional water taps and 100% sewerage management in 500 cities across India. Launched October 2021 (succeeds AMRUT 1.0 from 2015) with total outlay of ₹2,99,000 crore for 2021-2026. Targets: 2.68 crore new water tap connections + 2.64 crore new sewer/septage connections. How to Apply for AMRUT Mission 2.0 Online?

  1. 1AMRUT 2.0 is delivered through your Urban Local Body (ULB) — there is no citizen-facing central application.
  2. 2Check whether your city is among the 500 cities notified by MoHUA under AMRUT 2.0.
  3. 3To get a new water tap or sewer connection, apply at your ULB or municipal office, not online.
  4. 4Submit Aadhaar, address proof, and property documents along with the ULB connection application.
  5. 5The ULB and State Water Supply board process the request and lay the connection under the project.
  6. 6States contribute matching grants, so connection rollout timing depends on your city's project phase.
  7. 7Track city-wise project progress and coverage updates on amrut.mohua.gov.in.
