About this scheme for women

Coir weaving, coconut oil pressing, dried fish processing, tuna canning, and homestay hospitality are everyday trades that keep many Lakshadweep women earning, and this scheme puts working capital behind exactly those activities. Once a women's Self-Help Group registers with the Women & Child Development Department, Lakshadweep Administration, it can draw a ₹10,000 seed revolving fund, and beyond that, borrow up to ₹1 lakh at zero interest. Groups aren't limited to this alone — they can also tap bank-linked credit through DAY-NRLM for larger working-capital needs. The goal is simple: let island women turn traditional skills into steadier household income.

Which women qualify

• ✓ The SHG must be formally registered and based in Lakshadweep UT.
• ✓ It should have a track record of at least six months of regular group savings before applying.
• ✓ Every member of the group must be a woman who is a permanent resident of the islands.
• ✓ Groups working in coir products, handicrafts, coconut processing, dried fish, or homestay tourism are given preference.
• ✓ Any loan the group took earlier must already be fully repaid before a fresh one is sanctioned.

How to enrol

3. 3Work through each section of the form, matching entries to your documents
4. 4Attach the requested paperwork (SHG registration certificate from WCD Dept, Lakshadweep, SHG savings passbook (minimum 6 months), List of SHG members with Aadhaar)
5. 5Verify the preview screen, submit, and write down the acknowledgement ID
6. 6Return to the portal later to follow the verification stages
