What is Lakshadweep Island Development Scholarship?

The Lakshadweep Island Development Scholarship provides ₹18,000 per year to students from Lakshadweep UT who travel to the mainland (Kerala and other states) for higher education in recognised colleges and universities. Since Lakshadweep has very limited higher education infrastructure, most students must travel to Kochi and other mainland cities for degree courses. The scholarship covers partial boarding, travel, and education expenses. It is administered by the Education Department of the Lakshadweep Administration and funds are disbursed directly to students' bank accounts.
