About this employment scheme
Every rural household in Lakshadweep can claim up to 100 days of guaranteed wage work each financial year under MGNREGA, and because the islands' cost of living runs higher than most of the mainland, the notified daily wage here is set at ₹319 (2024–25) — among the steepest MGNREGA rates anywhere in India. The work itself is shaped by island geography: coastal protection structures, coconut plantation, rainwater harvesting, and beautification of village spaces make up the bulk of it, rather than the farmland-levelling projects common elsewhere. A local Gram Panchayat issues the job card, and once work is completed, wages move into the worker's bank account through DBT.

Which workers qualify
- ✓ You need to be at least 18 years old and part of a rural household in Lakshadweep UT.

Registration process
