E-Shram Card 2026 — New Benefits, ₹2 Lakh Insurance, Registration & Update Guide

The e-Shram Card is India's first national database of unorganised workers. With over 28 crore registered workers as of 2026, it provides a unique identity (UAN — Universal Account Number) to informal sector workers and links them to multiple social security schemes. Every worker who registers gets an e-Shram card that opens the door to multiple government benefits.

Who Can Register for E-Shram?

• Age: 16 to 59 years
• Must be an unorganised sector worker (not covered by EPFO or ESIC)
• Must NOT be an income taxpayer
• Must NOT be a government employee or government pension recipient
• Occupations: Construction workers, street vendors, domestic workers, agricultural labourers, rickshaw pullers, gig/platform workers, ASHA/Anganwadi workers, fishermen, weavers, and 400+ other occupations

How to Register on E-Shram Portal

1. Visit eshram.gov.in
2. Click "Register on e-Shram"
3. Enter your Aadhaar-linked mobile number
4. Enter OTP received on mobile
5. Fill in personal details — name, date of birth, address, occupation
6. Enter bank account details (IFSC, account number)
7. Submit — your e-Shram card (UAN card) is generated instantly
8. Download or save your e-Shram card (12-digit UAN number)

How to Update E-Shram Card (Mobile Number / Address / Bank)

1. Go to eshram.gov.in → Click "Update"
2. Login with your UAN number and registered mobile OTP
3. Go to the field you want to update (mobile, bank, address)
4. Make changes and submit with OTP verification
5. For mobile number change: Visit nearest CSC (Common Service Centre)

PM Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) Pension Link

E-Shram cardholders aged 18–40 can opt into PM Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) for ₹3,000/month pension at age 60. Monthly contribution ranges from ₹55 to ₹200 based on entry age, with government contributing an equal amount.
