Rajasthan's Indira Gandhi Matritva Poshan Yojana (IGMPY) exists in an unusual policy space. The central Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) already provides ₹5,000 for the first live birth. Rajasthan's IGMPY specifically covers the second live birth with a ₹6,000 payment — filling the gap in the central scheme. Together, a Rajasthan woman can receive ₹5,000 for her first child (via PMMVY) and ₹6,000 for her second (via IGMPY), totalling ₹11,000 in maternity support across two pregnancies. The four-installment structure of IGMPY (₹1,000 + ₹1,000 + ₹1,000 + ₹3,000) is tied to specific maternal-health milestones: registration in first trimester, second-trimester ANC visit, delivery in a government or empanelled facility, and post-delivery immunisation completion.
Why Anganwadi Registration Timing Matters
The scheme requires registration at the local Anganwadi Centre in the FIRST trimester. Registration in the second or third trimester means the first ₹1,000 installment is forfeited. This is the single most common reason women lose part of the benefit — many don't visit the Anganwadi until visibly pregnant, by which time the first-trimester window has closed. Practical guidance: as soon as a pregnancy is confirmed (typically 4-8 weeks), visit the Anganwadi and complete the initial registration, even before the family shares the news publicly.
The Milestone Verification Chain
- Trimester 1 (₹1,000) — verified by Anganwadi worker's initial pregnancy registration + ANM's first ANC checkup entry in the mother's card.
- Trimester 2 (₹1,000) — verified by a documented second ANC visit and TT injection.
- Delivery (₹1,000) — verified by delivery at a government hospital or empanelled private facility, with the discharge summary submitted.
- Post-delivery (₹3,000) — verified by the child's immunisation card showing completion of the first-year vaccinations (BCG, DPT, Measles, etc.).
Documents Required for Registration
The registration bundle requires: Jan Aadhaar card, Aadhaar of mother, birth certificate of the previous child (proving this is the second birth), an income certificate or BPL card, and a bank passbook Aadhaar-linked and in the mother's own name (not the husband's, not joint). The bank account requirement is strict — DBT will not route to a spouse's account under this scheme.
Where to Escalate If a Milestone Payment Is Delayed
Each milestone payment should arrive within 30-45 days of the Anganwadi worker uploading the verification. If delayed beyond 60 days, escalate through the block CDPO (Child Development Project Officer). Rajasthan Sampark portal at sampark.rajasthan.gov.in also accepts written grievances with the beneficiary ID.
